"Connecting My Neck" is an art piece that combines clay sculpture and photography to explore human vulnerability and resilience, as well as emotional connections. The inspiration for the piece came from a segment of a duck's neck bone, whose shape was reimagined and recreated in clay. Through multi-angle photography, the sculpture's different aspects are showcased, delving into the deep psychological and emotional ties between the individual and the whole.
The final piece consists of 27 black-and-white photographs. These photos, edited and reversed, present the sculpture from various perspectives, enhancing its visual complexity and diversity. Carefully arranged, they form a puzzle-like whole. Each photograph is like a piece of a puzzle—independent yet interdependent. Every angle offers a new way to reflect on and understand the self. Each tiny bone segment is part of the whole, suggesting the individual's role within the social network. The neck, as a metaphor for emotional connection, expresses humanity's need for support and connection in their emotional lives.
