"Evanescence" is a group of installations with deep meaning for women, inspired by my personal experience of breast disease and my exploration of the subtle relationship between emotions and health. Through abstract visual elements and metaphorical ideas, I present my understanding and reflection on breast disease, as well as my concern for emotional management and physical and mental health.

This project was inspired by the discovery that I had breast cysts when I had a health check-up, and this chance discovery triggered me to think deeply about women's breast health and their emotional ups and downs. This is not an unusual case in my life, as I realised that many of my friends around me were also facing breast problems, such as breast nodules, etc. This reality triggered me to explore the connection between my body and my emotions. I chose to use a natural material that I am very attached to - stones. I collected some special stones, each of them different but with similarities, each of them had a small hole in it, which I felt that these small holes could represent the cracks in life, but even more, the emotional vulnerability of women facing breast problems.

This piece references a Chinese idiom called "水滴石穿" (Dripping water penetrates stone), which originally means that continuous effort over a long period will achieve a goal. In my installation, I present this idea in a more negative light. The process of water dripping onto the stone symbolizes the accumulation and release of emotions, highlighting my primary concept that emotions are a significant cause of illness.

The use of aluminium in the work aims to create a sense of fear and coldness, akin to the tools in a hospital operating room. I documented the melting process of ice in the installation; as the ice melts into water droplets, the sound of the dripping water evokes feelings of anxiety or loneliness for me, especially in a quiet environment. Therefore, I consider this sound to be a symbol filled with emotion.
