Unconsciousness

This project is an off-site group show, My work is about women's reproductive rights. Women's choices are often influenced by other aspects such as customs and concepts of the old society, and in my cultural background, I think women are usually passive in their choices. Thirty years ago in China, we had a one-child policy and women would be forced to wear IUDs （Intra-uterine devices）to prevent pregnancy. On the contrary, today's society has opened up to a three-child policy and encourages women to have children. Women's choices are bound by social, family and national policies.

“The Sex Tree”
The postcard I designed was based on the place of our exhibition (Vauxhall Park) because the way we showed the works was to hang them on trees, and some of my group members and I were concerned with women, sex, gender, humanity, etc. In Chinese, all these words have the word ‘sex（性）’ in them, so I chose this word, which has many meanings, as the element for my collage on the tree.
